Overview

The Jamaica High School Invitational offers the best local, international prep and high school basketball teams two days of competitive action while immersing in the exotic beauty and rich culture that is uniquely Jamaica. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three (3) games as they face-off in pool play at the National Arena in Kingston, Jamaica. This is the first high school basketball tournament of its kind to be held on the island.

Locally, interest in the sport of basketball has grown tremendously over the past fifteen to twenty years, specifically at the high school level. For this reason, the event offers young players a unique opportunity for exposure to different cultures while bonding with global peers through their shared love of the game. Although teams represent all skill levels, maximum effort is taken to seed teams into an appropriate bracket that is fair and challenging. The tournament will feature local high schools as well as teams from North America and the Caribbean.

RULES

& REGULATIONS

At the most basic level, the rules of basketball make it an easy game to learn and a simple game to play. However, like any sport, once played at an elite level, many additional rules intervene in order to address the many situations that may arise during a competitive game.

FIBA decides, publishes and adapts the Official Basketball Rules, which are the only basketball rules recognized internationally. They are comprehensive and address all rule-related aspects of the game.
